so the NFL with 32 team in a country of 300m + has only twice the financial power si of the EPL ,a league of 20 in a country with a population of 59million. I suppose that's why so many americans are keen to buy premier league teams. you get international exposure too, unlilke the NFL
Go Blazers
Just have more than 1 team in the UK and their own division.
the unmentioned idea the NFL has leaked: skip straight to a whole European division of four teams, with 2 in London, one in Germany, and the last TBD
that way, most of their games would be similar to US teams, traveling only reasonable intra-continental distances, while both american and european teams would only have to make a few cross-ocean trips in the regular season, much as they currently do
I remember seeing some reality tv show from the UK and someone on the show had a bunch of SF 49ers stuff in his office. I had no idea there was an overseas NFL fan base until then. Wild.
Super Rugby trans-continental format was killed by COVID. The Jaguares scaled back to only playing in a lower standard South American league (SLAR) and the Sunwolves folded completely, with Japan focusing on expanding their own domestic league.
South Africa left too and joined in with European teams to form the United Rugby Championship. Trips are long, but the furthest distance is only around 6,300 miles (Glasgow to Durban).
But we could get teams in Canada and Mexico 😅😅
I do agree that no American players would want to live out of country for 6 or 7 months a year. These are young men trying to start families
East coast to Seattle isn't that different than east coast to london. Also I heard this but I don't know it for certain. Couldn't the west coast teams fly west and reduce the flight time greatly. If I'm wrong please don't bury me. The map is not a flat piece of paper
And now theyr'e expanding to even more countries.
53 players come on bro
imagine a world where interstate trains existed
Why would you watch American football when you have good national rugby teams
mexico makes the most sense and they would have a loud crazy fanbase
As someone from the uk I can confirm the uk doesn’t have 13million fans, it far less
13 million NFL fans in the UK? That's a shocking number, are we sure that's accurate? That means nearly 1 in 5. I don't live in the UK but there's no way.
What about team planes buddy
Easy solution just build a football field in the middle of the atlantic and have them meet halfway
Technically, the Jets landed in Warwick.
They should have a separate league for Europe. We could call it the European American Rules Football League (to differentiate between European football- which is soccer). They could all play each other locally. Then the best American team and the best European team would go to the Superbowl. That's the only way to make that work.
I think the only way a London NFL team could work is if the NFL adds at least 4 European Teams including London and for those tes to have there own division reducing travel costs
From the 2022 NFL season there will be games in Germany alternating each year between Munich and Frankfurt
It would be awesome if there was a "europe" conference then have a worldwide superbowl at end of season
NFL should just put the onus on the the teams. "here's the schedule, figure out how to get there" I bet most would just charter a coach (as in bus, not team coach!) for the shorter trips.
Great vid as always. I went to see the Jaguars vs Steelers in London in 2019 and it was excellent (as a casual American football fan)
I think it's obvious that sport leagues outside of a country's borders are impossible. Sucks for the rest of the world who don't have football but it's just the reality of things here
Ah yes a bunch of big tough guys with millions of dollars can't figure out how to put equipment onto a truck
Just give Toronto it’s own nfl team
Good to hear now actually send them to Ukraine
Why not just start a British Football League.
I did an NFL player's taxes once. He had to file in 8 states. Each state he played in. When the Saints play Minnesota at US Bank Stadium, the Saints players have to file a Minnesota tax return for the portion of their earnings earned during that game.
Some day we'll lose interest in these brain damage festivals.
Did I hear Watford? That's Sir Elton's home club!
What kind of maintenance does a plane need during the off hours? Commercial planes need engine washing maybe twice per week but a chartered flight could go once a week or less. So in the US possibly they could use UPS planes during the day and commercial planes at night. Or lease 3-4 planes for the few months and share them with NHL.
I really would like to see NFL expand to UK and Australia. Expand the league to 40 total teams. 4 teams in each country. Eventually, everything would smooth out logistically. Just don’t let the British and Aussies come up with stupid names and logo….they love having shit team names and logos.
Have a look how much speedway riders travel in a season. Sunday Poland, Tuesday Sweden, Grand Prix on Saturdays UK. Plus meetings all across Europe. Some racing must nights.
Newark is in New Jersey, not New York.
hypersonic planes would solve this 😀
