Also missing is the image of Lecue clattering João within a couple of minutes of him coming on. In total, 17 fouls were blown against Atlético, 14 against Athletic, seven yellow cards for the visitors, including Simeone, and zero for the hosts. I don't think I have ever seen a referee Jonesing quite so much to hand out cards and punish a team quite as much as Figueroa Vázquez seemed to want to do against Atleti on Saturday. As for the penalty he automatically gave against Reinildo when he was unsighted… Fortunately, he had to change his decision and also revoke the yellow he'd shown the defender. Appalling refereeing!
