West Brom 3-0 Peterborough – Joe Masi and Jonny Drury Analysis

West Brom correspondent Joe Masi and Digital Sports Journalist Jonny Drury analyse Albion’s 3-0 win over Peterborough United.

On a day when the club marked the 20th anniversary of the death of icon Jeff Astle, goals from Cedric Kipre, Karlan Grant and Grady Diangana secured a vital win for Valerien Ismael’ side.
The scoreline, though, doesn’t quite tell the story of the game with the visitors sitting in a low block and showing next to no ambition right from the very first whistle.
Darren Ferguson’s side came with a game plan to frustrate and time waste in the hope of pinching a point.
And they almost did it – with Kipre finally opening the scoring in the 78th minute.
From there the floodgates opened with Grant and Diangana going to get the goals Albion’s dominance deserved.

  1. Make no mistake: the first 70 minutes mirrored the last ten or so games – over-hit crosses and wayward passing. Two very well taken goals admittedly but the same issues prevail. Posh is a poor team which showed scant enterprise so a 3-0 win (as welcome as it is), hardly sets the pulse racing.

  2. Nice lad though Joe, although he does look like Adrian (pre-glam) from Rocky 1 in that hat and glasses. Doo-doo-doo-doo ? go on repeat it back Jo… Whataya want I should do now?

  3. At home v crappy Peterboro who were never gonna attack… And what does Ishy do? Plays 3 centre backs and Liverslow and keep Hickman and Diangana on the bench, clueless! Apparently Liverslow played well…but sorry 1 game in 20 you play well and in lockdowns you put 3 stone on!!!… don't need players like that.

  4. (Posh supporter) We went for second best (a draw) and deserved to lose. Better to aim for a win (and maybe also win some respect!). As I said, we deserved to lose today (but were unlucky to lose at the Weston Homes Stadium!).

  5.
